Iran says no ship can pass through the Strait of Hormuz without its permission.
Axar.az reports, citing Iranian media, that Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi made the remarks.
“Our armed forces have full awareness of any movement in the strait and carry out their mission in the best manner. No ship can transit the Strait of Hormuz without Iran’s coordination,” he said.
He added that Qatar and Pakistan had been assessing the possibility of restoring commitments under the Islamabad memorandum. According to Gharibabadi, Iran had made the necessary preparations through its understanding with Oman but would not take the lead in implementing obligations related to reopening the strait.
