Ukraine’s Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) has filed a motion with the High Anti-Corruption Court seeking the seizure of assets allegedly linked to Deputy Prime Minister for Ukraine’s Recovery and Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba.
The SAP said in a Telegram statement that prosecutors are asking the court to declare assets worth nearly 5 million hryvnias (about $111,500) as unjustified and to transfer them to the state. The agency alleges that the properties were acquired with the involvement of the official’s sister, Caliber.Az reports.
“A SAP prosecutor has filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court seeking to have assets worth nearly 5 million hryvnias [$111,500] declared unjustified and forfeited to the state; these assets were acquired by Oleksiy Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine and Minister of Community and Territorial Development, with the help of his sister,” the statement reads.
According to investigators, the case relates to an apartment and parking space in Kyiv. The SAP alleges that in 2021, while serving as first deputy head of the Kyiv City Administration, Kuleba arranged preliminary purchase agreements through his sister, and later formalised the acquisition in 2023 while holding a senior position in the Office of the President.
“In 2023, while serving as deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, the official ensured the conclusion of purchase and sale agreements for the aforementioned properties, their state registration, as well as the conclusion of service agreements regarding the apartment and parking space,” the agency noted.
The prosecutors added that an analysis of the income and expenses of Kuleba and his family indicated they did not have sufficient legal income to justify the acquisition of the assets.
The case will now be reviewed by the High Anti-Corruption Court.
