Ukrainian leader sees 30-day ceasefire as key to restarting peace talks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has emphasised that the 30-day ceasefire is primarily an opportunity to initiate dialogue.

"While a 30-day ceasefire is not enough to fully regain strength, it provides a crucial chance to open the door for discussions," Caliber.Az reports, citing RBC Ukraine's message on Telegram.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin had publicly proposed resuming negotiations with Ukraine in Istanbul starting May 15. In response, President Zelenskyy stated that he would be willing to meet Putin personally in Istanbul, but only if Moscow agrees to a complete and lasting ceasefire beginning since May 12.
