The Ukrainian government has introduced a special border regime in a one-kilometer-wide strip along the country’s borders with Russia and Belarus.
Axar.az reports, citing the Ukrainian government, that the measure was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on August 17 under Resolution No. 1049 and has now entered into force.
The regime will remain in effect for the duration of martial law. It prohibits unrestricted entry, residence, and movement within the designated area, as well as activities unrelated to repelling armed aggression, national defense, or border protection.
The government said the restrictions are aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities, preventing unauthorized access to border areas and reducing security risks amid Russia’s ongoing aggression and the potential use of Belarusian territory for destabilization and subversive activities.
The restrictions apply to all land plots located within the designated one-kilometer border strip.
