An international academic conference, the China Literature Congress, was held in Beijing under the auspices of the Institute of Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
The event brought together more than 100 scholars representing leading Chinese research and higher education institutions, as well as researchers from Azerbaijan, Italy, Spain and other countries. The conference served as a platform for expanding academic cooperation, discussing current issues in literary studies and promoting intercultural dialogue.
Azerbaijan was represented by Agshin Aliyev, head of the Azerbaijani Language Department at the Beijing Foreign Studies University and a Ph.D. in philology. He delivered a presentation titled "Azerbaijan's Literary Relations Along the Ancient and Modern Silk Road: Chinese Motifs in Azerbaijani Literature."
In his presentation, Aliyev highlighted Azerbaijan's strategic geographical position linking East and West and its significant role in fostering cultural and literary exchanges along the ancient Silk Road.
He noted that Chinese motifs have appeared in Azerbaijani literature since the period of oral folk tradition and have been preserved in both classical and modern literary works, reflecting the rich historical and cultural ties between the two peoples.
As part of the conference, a presentation was also held for the book Chinese Modernization and New Mass Art and Literature, prepared by the Institute of Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Speakers at the event highlighted the publication's importance for the study of contemporary Chinese literature and art.
