Eurasian bloc moves toward digital logistics integration with UN support

The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding during a forum in Astana, as efforts intensify to advance digital integration across Eurasian transport and logistics networks.

The announcement was made by EEC Minister in charge Economy and Financial Policy Bakhyt Sultanov on the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Forum, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.

Sultanov said UNCITRAL has prepared a draft international convention focused on the digitalization of transport and logistics systems, with the document expected to be signed in October 2026.

He noted that the initiative is of strategic importance for Eurasian integration, particularly in facilitating the “seamless” movement of goods, services and works within the regional bloc.

The planned memorandum is expected to strengthen cooperation between the EEC and the UN body in developing legal and regulatory mechanisms aimed at modernizing cross-border trade and logistics processes.
