Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that he will participate in the talks to be held in Istanbul only under one condition, APA reports, citing Reuters.
Zelensky’s sole condition is the personal participation of Vladimir Putin in the negotiations.
According to Zelensky, one of the main goals of the talks is to reach an unconditional 30-day ceasefire agreement. He emphasized that the first step toward peace with Russia must begin with this initiative.
“We want to agree on the beginning of the end of the war. But Putin is afraid of direct talks with me,” Zelensky stressed.
The Ukrainian leader added that if the negotiations do not take place, he expects the United States and the European Union to impose strict sanctions on Russia.
