Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi met with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in New York to discuss strengthening bilateral relations.
Axar.az reports, citing the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that the talks focused on expanding economic and trade ties, attracting investment and developing joint projects. The officials also reviewed bilateral cooperation and priorities for the coming period.
Popsoi reiterated Moldova’s interest in diversifying its energy supplies through natural gas and oil products from Azerbaijan, as well as developing cooperation in renewable energy. The sides also emphasized the importance of expanding contacts between companies from the two countries.
The ministers discussed holding the seventh meeting of the Moldova-Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation in Chisinau by the end of the year. Popsoi invited Bayramov to Moldova.
They also discussed cooperation within international organizations and exchanged views on regional developments, including the consequences of the war in Ukraine for Moldova, repeated violations of its airspace and incidents involving Russian drones falling on Moldovan territory.
