Vucic: Serbia interested in expanding ties with Azerbaijan

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has thanked Azerbaijan for its plans to participate in the EXPO 2027 international exhibition, which will be held in Belgrade next year.

Axar.az informs, citing Rеport, Vucic made the remarks in a post after he received credentials of Azerbaijan's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Serbia Tahir Taghizada.

The Serbian president expressed confidence that the strategic partnership and traditionally friendly relations between Serbia and Azerbaijan would continue to develop dynamically during Taghizada's tenure.

Vucic stressed that the two countries' mutual support for each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity is one of the key foundations of their mutual trust.

He noted that intensive political dialogue and regular meetings between officials at all levels are clear indicators of the close ties between Serbia and Azerbaijan.

Vucic also highlighted Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's recent visit to Belgrade and the first meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council held during the visit, saying that it had opened a new chapter in bilateral relations.

At the end of the meeting, the Serbian president conveyed his best wishes to his Azerbaijani counterpart.

"I asked my esteemed interlocutor to convey my warmest greetings to my dear friend, President Ilham Aliyev, whose wise leadership and sincere affection for our country are among the foundations of the overall relations between our two states," Vucic said.
