Yair Netanyahu, the son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has called for a criminal and security investigation into Haaretz journalist Ori Misgav over an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate him.
Axar.az reports, citing Israel National News, that Netanyahu sent a complaint to the Police Commissioner, Shin Bet Director and Attorney General, claiming that Misgav’s social media posts exposed his exact residence in Miami, security arrangements and movement patterns.
According to the complaint, the information reached Iranian intelligence and was used in an attempted assassination. Netanyahu claimed that Iranian operatives physically reached the door of his Miami residence, where Shin Bet security guards had to confront an “Iranian terrorist squad.”
The complaint alleges that Misgav published details including the building address, apartment number and floor, as well as information about Shin Bet Unit 730, the number of bodyguards assigned to Netanyahu and his travel and movement patterns.
Netanyahu’s lawyer, Uriel Nizri, described the alleged publications as “systematic, consistent and ongoing” and claimed they provided hostile elements with a “road map” of security vulnerabilities.
Netanyahu is demanding that Misgav be investigated and arrested over alleged offenses including assisting the enemy during wartime, providing information to the enemy with the intent to harm state security, endangering lives and compromising the security of protected individuals.
He is also seeking an investigation into alleged violations of his privacy, including surveillance of his movements and private life.
The complaint further calls for all those involved in the publication or dissemination of the information to be brought to justice and asks that Netanyahu be formally recognized as a crime victim and kept informed of the investigation.
