A victim has given testimony at a military court in Baku about alleged acts of vandalism committed by Armenian forces during the occupation of Jidimli village in Azerbaijan’s Lachin district.
Mukhtar Gashimov told the court that on May 18, 1992, he was forced to flee after Armenian troops attacked the settlement, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
He recalled that as early as 1989, a local shepherd, Mehdi Mukhammadov, had been killed while tending livestock.
“In 1992, our village came under continuous shelling with heavy weaponry. My young daughter and I were wounded in the legs. Gravestones at cemeteries were destroyed, gold teeth were taken from the dead, and our historic and religious monuments were looted,” he said.
The trial in Baku involves Armenian nationals accused of crimes against peace and humanity, including war crimes, genocide, terrorism, and the violent seizure of power.
