Israel’s Defence Ministry announced that construction has begun on a new water pipeline linking Egypt’s desalination plant to the Al-Mawasi area in Gaza, aiming to provide a vital lifeline to hundreds of thousands of residents.
According to the statement posted on X, the pipeline—funded and facilitated by the United Arab Emirates—will operate independently of Israeli water infrastructure and is expected to serve approximately 600,000 people along Gaza’s coast, Caliber.Az reports.
“The line will serve around 600,000 residents and operate independently of Israeli water pipelines. Work is expected to take several weeks,” the ministry stated.
Work on the pipeline began on July 30.
The ministry stated that it will continue coordinating humanitarian responses for the civilian population, together with international partners.
