On July 29, Belarusian authorities said an unidentified drone was intercepted over Minsk after it entered the country's airspace without authorisation.
The Belarusian Ministry of Defence told state news agency that air defence forces detected the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) at around 2:00 am local time, Caliber.Az reports.
The drone was reportedly brought down using electronic warfare systems, crashing near 72 Matusievich Street in the capital at approximately 2:33 am. No injuries were reported.
The Ministry stated that the aircraft had violated regulations regarding the use of national airspace and was classified as a UAV.
In response to the incident, authorities have introduced additional measures to tighten airspace surveillance and control.
An investigation is under way, and President Alexander Lukashenko is said to be personally overseeing the situation.
