Poland’s Border Guard plans to install an electronic monitoring system along a 180-kilometre stretch of its border with Ukraine
The system is expected to be deployed along the borders of Ukraine with Poland’s Podkarpackie and Lublin voivodeships. It will include concrete poles equipped with surveillance cameras and motion sensors, as well as watchtowers, Caliber.Az reports, citing Polish media.
Unlike the physical barrier erected along the Belarusian border in 2022, Polish authorities do not plan to build a wall on this section.
A contractor for the project has already been selected, and construction is scheduled to begin in 2025.
The decision to install an electronic monitoring system comes amid heightened regional security concerns, driven by Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine and hybrid threats from Belarus.
