At least 20 people were killed and five were missing after a cargo ship caught fire while docked in a Chinese port.
Axar.az informs, citing Xinhua, according to local authorities in Qingdao, the fire broke out at around 11:15 a.m. on September 10 while the vessel was undergoing repairs at China State Shipbuilding Corporation’s Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding facility.
There were 42 people on board. Twelve people were safely evacuated, while five were injured and taken to hospital. Their conditions are currently stable. Twenty-five people were initially reported missing.
The flames were extinguished at around 2:30 p.m. As of 5:30 p.m., rescuers had located 20 of the missing people, all of whom were found without vital signs.
