SOCAR launches Switzerland’s first fast-charging station for electric trucks

SOCAR Energy Switzerland—a subsidiary of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) — officially opened Switzerland’s first fast-charging station dedicated to electric trucks.

According to a statement released by SOCAR Energy Switzerland on social media, the new station is located along the A1 national motorway at the Kölliken-Nord rest area, Caliber.Az reports via domestic media.

It is designed to provide efficient, high-capacity charging for heavy-duty electric vehicles and marks a significant milestone in the development of sustainable transport infrastructure in the country.

“The new infrastructure is designed for efficient charging of electrified heavy goods vehicles and represents an important step towards sustainable mobility. The station with a capacity of up to 400 kW enables charging times to be significantly reduced even for heavy electric trucks, which is especially important for logistics companies,” the company stated.

Swiss media also reported that SOCAR plans to expand its presence in the e-mobility sector by installing approximately 100 charging points for electric vehicles—both cars and trucks—throughout Switzerland by the end of 2026.

SOCAR has been active in Switzerland’s energy market for over a decade. Through SOCAR Energy Switzerland, the company operates a network of approximately 200 fuel stations under the SOCAR brand, engaging primarily in the retail trade of petroleum products.

In addition to its retail operations, SOCAR’s international trading division—SOCAR Trading—has its global headquarters in Zurich, further cementing the company's strategic role in Switzerland’s energy landscape.

Founded in 1992 and based in Baku, the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) is Azerbaijan’s state-owned oil and gas enterprise. It is a key driver of the country’s energy sector and economy, engaged in the exploration, development, and production of oil and gas resources both onshore and offshore, including significant operations in the Caspian Sea.
