FIFA to investigate Argentina over post-final incidents

FIFA intends to investigate Argentina over incidents that took place immediately after the World Cup final against Spain, according to Sky Sports.

Spain beat Argentina 1-0 after extra time in New York on Sunday (July 19) to win the World Cup.

After the final whistle, Leandro Paredes grabbed Eric Garcia by the throat before knocking Gavi to the ground and tearing his training bib. Nahuel Molina struck Spain captain Rodri, while Argentina coaching staff member Roberto Ayala hit Dani Olmo.

In addition, Argentina's players pointedly turned their backs on the podium during the trophy presentation ceremony.

Spain won the FIFA World Cup for the second time in their history.
