Investigation ends in hooliganism case over Armenian PM's region visit

The Armenian Investigative Committee has announced the completion of the preliminary investigation into a hooliganism case stemming from Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s controversial visit to the Syunik (Zangezur) region in April 2021.

The case was launched after Pashinyan encountered a hostile reception during his working trip to the region, where residents greeted him with shouting, accusations of treason, and offensive language. The incident drew significant public and political attention at the time, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.

According to the Investigative Committee, the case materials have now been forwarded to the court. Three of the defendants have been released on bail and placed under travel restrictions, while a fourth has been subjected to a travel ban.

No further details on the defendants or court proceedings have been released.
