Vaagn Chakhalyan, leader of the Armenian opposition movement “Kamq”, has been placed under arrest for two months.
The news was initially shared by his son, Ruben Chakhalyan, via online platforms, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
The decision was handed down by Judge Nelly Baghdasaryan.
Chakhalyan has been transferred to the Nubarashen penitentiary.
He is implicated in the case linked to the revanchist group “Sacred Struggle”, under which 16 individuals were arrested on June 26 on charges of plotting a terrorist attack and attempting to seize power.
Lawyer Ruben Melikyan reported on Facebook that Chakhalyan is currently being held at the Investigative Committee building at 5 Mazmanyan Street.
