Deputy PM: Ukraine ready to open full EU accession talks by year-end

Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Olha Stefanishyna, has stated that the country is actively collaborating with all partners to unblock the stalled process of joining the European Union.

Speaking to Ukrinform, Stefanishyna described Hungary’s obstruction of the accession talks as primarily a political issue, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.

She emphasised that Ukraine is working closely with partners to find a resolution.

“This matter remains consistently on the agenda,” the Deputy Prime Minister assured.

Stefanishyna also highlighted that issues concerning national minorities should be resolved through dialogue rather than becoming tools for political blackmail within EU institutions.

She expressed confidence that Ukraine will complete all necessary preparations by the end of the year to open all six negotiation clusters required for EU accession talks.

“Ukraine is already prepared to open three negotiation clusters and will do everything needed by the year’s end to open all six. The sole factor currently determining the date for advancing negotiations is the consensus of the 27 EU member states,” Stefanishyna stressed.
