Macron bets on anti-Israel rhetoric to sway Muslim voters – Newsmax

Amid growing instability in the Middle East, French President Emmanuel Macron has intensified his anti-Israel rhetoric — a move that conservative American outlet Newsmax views as an attempt to win over France’s expanding Muslim electorate.

One of the first reactions to Macron’s recent actions came from former U.S. President Donald Trump, who commented on Macron’s explanation for Trump’s early departure from the G7 summit: "Whether purposely or not, Emmanuel always gets it wrong..."

Newsmax draws particular attention to France's involvement in organising a planned UN-sponsored international conference on the recognition of a Palestinian state. Although the conference was postponed due to escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, the initiative itself is seen as a clear sign of France’s pivot toward a unilateral pro-Palestinian stance.

The French government's decision to exclude Israeli offensive weapons from the Paris Air Show was also criticised. According to sources cited by Newsmax, the motivation was not ethical concerns, but rather a commercial calculation — an effort to eliminate competition with products of the French defence industry.

The outlet argues that Macron’s positioning is driven by domestic political pressures. A recent government report highlighted the growing influence of radical Islamist groups, which poses a significant threat to national security. Against this backdrop, Newsmax suggests Macron is leveraging pro-Palestinian rhetoric as a tool for maintaining political balance within an increasingly fragmented electorate.

“It's indeed disheartening to witness the French kowtowing to dark forces which nearly 10 years ago perpetrated acts of barbaric slaughter on the streets of Paris (think Charlie Hebdo, Bataclan), preferring instead to sanction the country which has acted to confront and contain the scourge menacing both nations.”
