Dagestan’s state secretary removed from office amid investigation

Magomed-Sultan Magomedov, State Secretary of the Republic of Dagestan, has been relieved of his duties amid an ongoing investigation.

Magomedov’s dismissal follows recent investigative measures, Caliber.Az reports, citing an official statement published on the Telegram channel of the regional governor’s administration.

Russian media earlier reported that on June 25, Magomedov was detained in connection with a criminal case concerning embezzlement during the privatisation of a local enterprise.

Searches were conducted at his residence and other locations. He was released the following day under a travel restriction order.
