Iran claims it shot down Israeli F-35 fighter jet

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 16. Iran’s air defense forces have shot down an Israeli Air Force F-35 fighter jet in the airspace northwest of Tabriz, Trend reports.

This marks the fourth Israeli F-35 reportedly destroyed by Iranian air defense systems amid the recent intensification of hostilities between the two countries.

The latest escalation began in the early hours of June 13, when Israel launched a series of airstrikes on Iranian territory. The strikes resulted in significant casualties, including several top Iranian military leaders: Chief of the General Staff Mohammad Bagheri, IRGC Commander-in-Chief Hossein Salami, Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters Commander Gholamali Rashid, IRGC Air Force Commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh, as well as nine nuclear scientists and other senior officials.

In response, Iran launched a large-scale counterattack, firing over 150 ballistic missiles and more than 100 drones at Tel Aviv and other areas across Israel, causing civilian casualties and widespread destruction.
