Spokesman of the Yemeni Armed Forces Yahya Sare'e has said that Yemeni Houthi forces from the Ansar Allah movement reportedly launched drone strikes on two Israeli targets in Ashkelon and Eilat, further escalating tensions in the region.
The attacks, which took place in the early hours of the morning, were confirmed by a representative of the movement, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Sare'e said that the first military operation targeted a critical Israeli facility in the occupied Ashkelon region, which was struck by a Yafa drone.
The second attack involved a Samad-1 drone, which targeted an Israeli military installation in the Umm al-Rashrash area, known as Eilat in Arabic, located in the southern part of occupied Palestine.
“These operations are part of our ongoing efforts to target key military sites,” the representative stated. “The attacks were precise and aimed at weakening the Israeli military infrastructure in these areas.”
In addition to these strikes, the Houthis also claimed responsibility for launching drone and missile attacks on US naval assets. The movement reported that they targeted the US aircraft carriers Harry Truman and Carl Vinson, along with their accompanying military ships.
“In retaliation for US aggression and crimes, we carried out two highly accurate military operations in the Red and Arabian Seas,” said the spokesperson. “The first operation targeted the USS Truman and its support vessels in the northern part of the Red Sea using two cruise missiles and two drones.
The second strike was against the USS Vinson aircraft carrier and its battle group in the Arabian Sea, using three cruise missiles and four drones.”
