The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has granted Space Exploration Holdings, LLC, a subsidiary of SpaceX, international telecommunications authorizations.
Axar.az reports, citing an FCC public notice, that the commission granted Space Exploration Holdings global facilities-based and global resale authority under Section 214 of the Communications Act.
The authorizations allow the company to provide international telecommunications services on a facilities-based and resale basis, subject to FCC rules and conditions.
The FCC also granted amendments to two previously filed applications involving Space Exploration Holdings. The authorizations are subject to the Commission’s international Section 214 requirements and exclusion list.
One of the key advantages of “Starlink Mobile” is global roaming. With its extensive satellite network, a single mobile plan could theoretically provide stable, high-speed connectivity anywhere in the world.
SpaceX also plans to expand the service’s capabilities through next-generation satellites that will provide download speeds of up to 150 Mbps and operate as 5G base stations in space.
