U.S. ties tariffs to China

In negotiations on the elimination of import duties, the US authorities intend to require foreign countries to limit trade with China.

Axar.az informs that the Wall Street Journal reported this, citing sources.

“The US plans to use tariff negotiations to isolate China. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent wants trading partners to limit China's participation in their economies in exchange for concessions in reciprocal tariffs,” the report said.

The publication wrote that the White House will require foreign countries to prohibit the supply of goods to China through their territories, not to allow Chinese companies to open offices there, and not to create conditions for cheap industrial components from China to enter their markets:

“The exact requirements may vary significantly from country to country, given the degree of involvement in China's economy.”

The source said that the main supporter of pressure on China in the US administration is Treasury Secretary Bessent. One of the measures he proposed is to ban the trading of shares of Chinese companies on US exchanges.
