Baku, Kyiv discuss cooperation in social protection

Azerbaijan's Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population Anar Aliyev has met with Ambassador of Ukraine to Azerbaijan, Yuriy Gusev.

During the meeting, the officials noted the importance of cooperation documents signed between the Azerbaijani labour ministry and Ukraine's Ministry of Social Policy, the Azerbaijani labour ministry told Caliber.Az.

Additionally, the provision of social and psychological services to children from Ukraine affected by military actions was highlighted.

The meeting also provided information on the reforms carried out in Azerbaijan in recent years in the fields of labour, employment, social protection, and rehabilitation, as well as the successes of the digitalisation program in the social sector.

The ambassador expressed satisfaction with the expansion of ties between the countries and noted the importance of ongoing cooperation and exchange of experience in the process of social reforms.

The meeting also involved discussions on the prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of social security and rehabilitation.

Azerbaijan has been actively involved in providing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, especially in supporting children affected by the war. Since the onset of the conflict, over 270 Ukrainian children have visited Azerbaijan to receive recreational and psychological support. These programs aim to stabilise their emotional well-being and provide a respite from the hardships of displacement.​
