The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has said that as of the end of March, China exceeded 4.39 million 5G base stations, achieving a significant milestone in its telecommunications infrastructure, with the user penetration rate reaching 75.9 per cent.
In a recent press conference, MIIT Chief Engineer Xie Shaofeng emphasised the ongoing advancements in China’s cyber infrastructure and its rapidly expanding digital industry, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
He highlighted that digital technologies, particularly 5G and large artificial intelligence models, have made remarkable progress. As a result, China’s digital sector experienced an 8.2 per cent year-on-year revenue growth during the first two months of 2025.
Xie also shared insights on China's industrial performance, noting that the country's industrial sector has displayed steady progress in the first quarter of the year. There have been significant improvements in the sector’s structure, along with strides in cultivating high-quality productive forces that are expected to support sustained economic growth in the coming months.
