Six people were killed after a gunman opened fire on passersby in Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi District on April 18 before barricading himself inside a supermarket with hostages.

Axar.az reports, according to the Ukraine’s Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, the suspect moved down the street and shot people at close range without warning before entering the Velmart supermarket.

According to reports, one hostage was killed, four people died on the street, and another victim later died in hospital. Fourteen others were injured, including a 12-year-old boy whose parents were killed.

Klymenko said police attempted to negotiate with the gunman for about 40 minutes before the KORD special unit stormed the building and killed him.
